Crafting shared stories.

Celebrating 30 years 1994 – 2024

Harry Poulos Architects (HPA) is focused on craft environments that are a unique celebration and representation of each client. We truly believe that good design is founded on good relationships and we pride ourselves on the connections we build with our clients.

Established in 1994, we are currently celebrating 30 years of Harry Poulos Architects. Harry always wanted to work in property and being a creative mind, Architecture was a perfect fit. HPA was started with the passion for creating timeless and meaningful projects.

Harry is personally involved with every project at HPA and is complimented by our diverse team. Our methodology of practice is ultimately an efficient and creative approach to collaborative processes. Acting on behalf of the client to produce and deliver projects, the team communicates with contractors and consultants to achieve common goals.

Harry Poulos is the principle and director of his company, becoming the primary contact for all jobs.

“We joke with our clients that working with an Architect from brief to build is like a long marriage (a good one that is!) where we work together, learn, and share throughout the process.  Establishing expectations, down to budget and brief, is a great starting point – a concept image which could be as simple as a photo of a front door can be the catalyst for the whole creative process.” – Harry Poulos

For as long as I can remember, I always wanted to work in property and being a creative mind, Architecture was the perfect fit. I started Harry Poulos Architects nearly 30 years ago with the ambition to start my own practice and work on meaningful projects.

Tom: What is your key focus and objective at Harry Poulos Architects?

We truly believe good design is founded on good relationships and we pride ourselves on the connections we build with our clients. We focus on timeless design within a traditional framework, and we personalise each project for our clients.

The decision to raise an existing 1940s cottage gave this Brisbane family home a real lift.

Brisbane's benign climate means the focus is on outdoor living. With the expansive terrace alongside the pool enjoying city views as well as boasting an outdoor kitchen with bar fridge, gas barbecue, pizza oven and slow cooker, this is an entertainer's dream.

Scott and Kylie say the design and building process was "seamless, enjoyable and gratifying". The home was completed early this year and now perfectly suits the needs of all its occupants. "We have a home that's very private yet feels vast and sumptuous," says Kylie.

When a sweet but tired 1950s beach shack with absolute water frontage came up for sale, our very own architect, Harry Poulos just knew he could turn it into a dreamy family holiday home…

Brisbane architect Harry Poulos and his wife Georgia adore the beach. Queensland born and raised, they both grew up holidaying by the ocean and share a love of salty air, sand between the toes and horizons of blue-on-blue.

They've always enjoyed family getaways on the Gold Coast and had often fantasised about owning a holiday home on that famous stretch of holden sand. A couple of years ago they began casually casting around for a place where they could create an escape for themselves, their daughters Lauren, 21, and Demi, 18, and the family pooch Winston (Winnie), a tan-coloured groodle.
